Its_time_to_quit_mj_En

In Canada, tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of premature death, disease and disability, and yet 19 per cent of the population continues to smoke. Evidence suggests that even minimal intervention by health-care professionals can dramatically reduce rates of smoking!

The Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario smoking cessation initiatives aim to strengthen nurses’ capacity to help their clients by implementing smoking cessation strategies and techniques in their daily practice . In partnership with the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA), RNAO is utilizing this already established approach and infrastructure as the foundation for the 2010-2011 national initiative.

Watch an RNAO video. Read about the smoking cessation community and best practice initiative.
